On our trip to SoCal this past weekend (for Old Opa's funeral), we spent some time relaxing at the Ventura beach. This is one of the favorite beaches - they have a "pirate" ship with a zip-line, a cool playground, grassy areas to have a picnic, and of course the ocean. On our previous trips to the beach, Chloe always stayed with me on the playground or on the picnic blanket. This time she joined in the fun. I missed it, but it was reported that she splashed in the water and laughed as the waves "got" her. Good times.Wednesday, July 29, 2009

As the camp song goes: Camp Shelanu ROCKS!

This week Sophia went to Camp Shelanu at Congregation B'nai Israel. It was a week long day camp that focused on Jewish Arts & Culture. Sophia did art projects, cooked, played relay games, swam, danced, sang, went on a field trip to the movies, performed skits and puppet shows, and just played. There were some basic camp rules to follow...Sophia said the last rule was the best "Have Fun". She did!
On the first day I stopped by at lunch time to see if Sophia wanted to go home. She hesitated for a bit, but decided to stay for the remainder of the afternoon (till 4pm!). On Tuesday when I dropped her off, she told me I didn't even need to come back at lunch cause she would be OK!
Chloe and I missed Sophia, but we loved seeing Sophia's very happy (and tired) face and hearing about all the day activities when we picked her up.
Sister Time
Every morning Sophia is allowed to watch a morning cartoon while I take a shower. Usually Chloe hangs out in the bathroom with me, since she is "too loud" according to Sophia. But yesterday Chloe decided that she was old enough to watch a show with Sophia and insisted on staying in the den. I gave in. So, the two of them sat on the couch in their PJs eating Os cereal and watched WordWorld. When I checking in on them they were holding hands. Too cute.

Bubble Blowing Fun

Like every kid, Chloe has fallen in love with bubbles. Today she spent some time at our friends house so the "big girls" could play at our house. The plan was for Chloe to nap, but instead it became bubble-blowing-practice. She's very close to successfully blowing them on her own. But, she has mastered spilling the solution on the ground!
