A Big Day

Yesterday Sophia rode the bus to school. Of course it involved me following her to the bus stop (she walked with the "big kids" on our street) and then driving to school so I could greet her as she stepped of the bus.

Overall it was a very successful bus ride. She says she'll do it again. We'll see.

Chatter Box

Chloe is a chatter box. She has several phrases she repeats over and over again, but mostly she just rambles. It's very cute to listen to, and it gets us all smiling.

Here are her most popular phrases

  • hi mommy

  • hi daddy

  • my baby

  • hi baby

  • my poo poo

  • thankyou (spoken as one word) mommy

  • hi ghosts (Halloween decorations)

  • my eye

  • my shoe

This is a picture of Chloe playing her current favorite game - Baby. It involves changing the baby's "poo poo" diaper, taking it for a walk, and feeding the baby. It's so sweet to watch her kiss the baby's head just like I kiss Chloe's.

Pumpkin Pickin'

On Saturday morning we headed to Bishop's Pumpkin Patch. There we went on a hayride, petted some animals, played in the barn, watched a pig race, had some tasty treats, and of course picked our pumpkins! Seth was stuck carrying 4 pumpkins as I managed two tired and sick girls.

Birthday Party #2

And here are the highlights from Sophia's Scavenger Hunt Birthday Party.

We started the party with a sandbox hunt. The kids dug in the sand to uncover
lots of tiny treasures.

Next we divided the kids into teams and asked them to find hidden items.
Look closely in this picture...do you see Elmo?

After the successful hunt, we played "Pin the Hat on the Birthday Girls."

We stopped for some snacks and cupcakes.

And then Sophia opened presents.
It was a very nice Birthday Party. We are thankful that many of our friends and family could celebrate with us.

The Party Lasted for DAYS! - Day 1

Well, we survived the big birthday. Sophia is the big 5 years old! Here are some highlights
from her birthday celebration.

Sophia woke to a decorated room, complete with a banner and streamers.

We then gathered at the Spaghetti Factory, Sophia's favorite restaurant, for a birthday dinner

And the day ended with a Princess Cake. I don't usually bake, so this was a huge accomplishment for me. Funny story: as I lit the candles on the cake, the doll's hair caught on fire. We frantically blew out the candles and doll. Luckily, the cake was still edible.
Overall, it was a great Birthday Day.

A Note From the Teacher: OH NO? OH YES!

Every parent (I think) dreads the note home from the teacher. Here is the note Sophia handed me on Friday.

Sophia,

You did a great job as "Teacher of the day!" I like the way you always pay attention in class. You do a great job participating too! I really like how you get your work done quickly and quietly!

Great Job!
Ms. Willow

So far, Kindergarten is agreeing with Sophia.

It's Been a Hard Day

Even though it's been a hard day, and all I want to do is take a nap, my kids make me smile. Sophia is busy drawing Seth and I pictures and practicing her writing. Chloe is roaming around the house, occasionally stoping to give Sophia a hug or to show me which pair of Sophia's shoes she's wearing.

I love Sophia.

I love Chloe.
